In November 2013, it was announced that North America's largest dance music festival will be held at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on June 20–22, 2014. EDC New York, EDC London, EDC Puerto Rico and EDC Orlando will all return for 2014. EDC Chicago will not be held in 2014 due to issues with Chicagoland Speedway regarding a suitable date, as EDC New York was announced to take place over memorial day weekend 2014, the weekend EDC Chicago was held on in 2013. EDC Chicago is planned to return in 2015. In December 2013, it was announced that EDC Mexico will take place on March 15-16, 2014.
While Electric Daisy Carnival is based around music, fashion is a huge part of the festival scene. Fashion plays such a large role in music festivals such as EDC retail outlets have dedicated full collections to "festival Fashion". If you are planning on attending EDC this summer or any music festival for that matter: here are some fashion ideas to get your festival fashion gears turning!
Pretty much anything goes for EDC fashion. Anything from glitter bras, to tu-tu's, to fish nets, and fuzzy leg warmers you can't go wrong when choosing your outfits for EDC. You can make your own outfit. You can purchase full outfits or accessories to complete your costume, or you could do a combination of the two. There are some really great websites you can get rave/festival wear. One that I really like in particular is RaveReady.com, they have a huge selection of clothing that will fit any style and they are relatively good priced. They are even holding a give away right now for EDC tickets at the location of your choice! Other good websites that are good for festival/rave wear is etsy.com, ebay.com, and Pinterest is always a great website to go on for extra inspiration.
If you're new to raves you can opt for an outfit that is more in your comfort zone such as high waisted shorts and a crop top or a cute summer dress. If you want to be a little more daring add a bustier to add a little bit of sex to your outfit without being too revealing. Remember to wear comfortable shoes such as Vans, Converse, or Flip-Flops.
If you want to save a little money you can make your own high waisted shorts for less than $7.00:
Step 1: Go to your local thrift shop and get an old pair of high waisted pants that fit you in the waist. Preferably try to find a pair that are looser all over except for the waste. I find that if you are small/petite it helps to go to the little boys section of the thrift store the waist usually fits better that way.
Step 2: Try on the jeans and with fabric chalk (or regular chalk if you don't have fabric chalk) and draw an angled line on each pant leg. You want the outside of the shorts to be high part of the angle. Once you have drawn lines on both pant legs the lines should make a very wide "V".
Step 3: Take the jeans off and cut just below the lines you just drew.
Step 4: For added destruction create holes in the jeans wherever you want. Start by cutting half inch horizontal strips where you want your holes to be. Then take a pair of tweezers and pull out the blue strings that are running vertically in the strips. As you pull the blue vertical strings out the white horizontal strings will be left. Step 5: For an acid wash effect, mix 3 parts bleach to 1 part water in a spray bottle. Then take your shorts outside and begin to spray your shorts to lighten them up. Leave them in the sun to speed up the process. Repeat this step until your shorts are the color you want.
Step 6: Wash and dry your new shorts to wash away the bleach and fluff up the "destroyed" parts of your shorts, and Viola you have an awesome new pair of high waisted shorts!
